Women’s Counseling

Women today experience a unique set of challenges and stressors. In their countless roles and responsibilities, women feel pressure to meet unrealistic expectations and fulfill an impossible standard. The desire to do good, be good, do it all, and be their best leaves so many women feeling emotionally exhausted and spent. Women carry the emotional load of societal and cultural pressures, gender-based discrimination, sexism, gender-based violence, reproductive health concerns, pregnancy and childbirth, motherhood, menopause, and other gender-related issues, often suffering in unseen and unspoken ways. To address the mental health needs of women, our counseling services are designed to consider the complexity of a woman’s experience, with an understanding of the roles, responsibilities, life experiences, and physical health concerns that many women face.

At BPC, we value promoting women’s mental health, female empowerment and well-being, and addressing the impact of gender-related challenges on women’s mental health. Here, women are provided a space where they can share their unique experiences and emotions with confidence that they will be understood and supported. Our goal is for women to feel understood and empowered with the tools they need to address their unique concerns and experiences.

As women who specialize in women’s counseling, we create a collaborative environment to help our clients live a life they value. If you are facing an of these or many other issues as a woman, BPC is here to support you and your journey:

Women’s Counseling FAQs

What are considered “Women's Issues” in therapy?

While women and men face many similar experiences in life, women face unique challenges and process many of these life experiences differently. At BPC, we create a supportive environment to empower women to grow, heal, and utilize their innate strengths. With warmth and support, women can find a safe place to process their history of hurt, find their voice, connect with their values, and live a life they find fulfilling.

What to Expect During Women’s Counseling?

Women’s focused counseling is about identifying the obstacles that are getting in the way of becoming the best version of yourself and living life with joy. Together, your psychologist or counselor will help you clarify your goals, overcome feelings of shame, and find practical solutions to life’s frustrations.  At BPC we do not define what it means to be a healthy woman, but empower women to discover what they need to be whole and fulfilled.

What Are Common Reasons Women Seek Therapy?

Many women seek counseling when they are burned out and utterly exhausted. Due to a history of trauma, a frustrating relationship, impossible work pressures, parenthood, or disappointment, many women seek help when they are just “done” living life the same way and need to make a change.

What to look for in a Women’s Therapist?

A good women’s therapist is there to help a woman be the best version of herself. The goal is not for a therapist to define her values, life goals or needs. But instead, it is to help her better understand herself, why she may be struggling, and how to become the person she wants to be.

Can I bring a support person (spouse, family member, friend)?

Of course! Just be sure to clarify with your therapist if you are looking for your support person to sit in just for one session or if you would like for them to participate in your therapy on an ongoing basis.

Do you offer telephone or video chat sessions?
